Aaron Burr (1756-1836): In the US presidential Election of 1800 Aaron Burr received the same number of electoral votes as Thomas Jefferson. He then served as vice president to Jefferson from 1801 to 1805. This created the unique situation of the president and vice president being of rival political parties.
